i had to work late last night, and even the construction fields were quiet by then. i stood outside on the balcony for some fresh air and it was cold, cold but clean. the entire city was still very bright but peaceful, even probably just for a short while.

Qiang-Sheng cab used to run lots of TV commercials to promote their phone number when I was still a college boy. It was a loud female voice reading the number 62580000 in Shanghai dialect. Her lubricant and rhythmic voice was so impressive and resonating that I did not actually remember what the number was for but the number itself. I guess that was either the failure of the ads not to tie closely the phone number and the cab service, or the failure of me as a customer not to capture the essential of the ads.
